All of Pre-Prep (teachers included) dressed up as their favourite book character to celebrate book week.

A Visit to Preston Hall
As part of Class 1's study of homes in history they enjoyed a trip to Preston Hall Museum in Stockton.
Forest School
PP2 took their lessons out doors in the first week of Aysgarth's French Forest School.
A Close Encounter!
The Reception Class invited their parents and brothers and sisters and the Nursery children to an Alien Tea Party.
Save the Rainforest
Year 3's topic for the first half of the Spring Term has focused on the rain forest.

Pirates invade Aysgarth School
The topic of Oceans and Seas, studied by the Pre-Prep Year 2 class became something of an adventure last Friday when they held a ‘Pirate Day’.
Valentine's Day in Pre-Prep
Valentines came early to Nursery and Pre-Prep. Children paid for the privilege of a non-uniform day with a Valentine’s Day theme, to raise money for Richard Walanyo who lives in Jamestown, Ghana. Richard is sponsored by the children and the money raised will help with his education, school uniform and shoes. Backed by the New Life Baptist Church in Northallerton, ‘New Day, New Life, Ghana’ is a charitable project committed to the physical and spiritual welfare of orphaned, needy and destitute children under the care of the New Life Outreach Church.
Sponsored Walk
On the 25th April, children from Aysgarth School near Bedale took part in a sponsored ‘Toddle Waddle’ around the school’s grounds to help raise awareness of meningitis and funds for The Meningitis Trust. Wearing colourful duck masks, the ‘little ducklings’ from the Nursery and Reception classes waddled and walked alongside their parents, siblings and other toddlers from the Hunton Playgroup. On return parents and friends enjoyed coffee and biscuits and all children were able to buy biscuits made by years one and two, sold by year three.
Poet Laureate's Visit
Award-winning writer Anne Fine delighted the children when she visited the school. The younger children were entertained by the story "Ruggles", whilst the older children saw how a book developed from a basic idea to the finished product.
The Harvest Festival
The children brought shoe boxes filled with Christmas gifts as their offering for the Harvest Festival. The shoe boxes are delivered to needy children in Romania by members of the New Life Church in Northallerton.
The Official Opening of the New Building
Aysgarth School Pre-Prep Department's new extension was officially opened on Friday 22 June by the Marquess of Downshire, chairman of the governors. The event was marked by a family picnic, follwed by the release of 100 balloons. After the opening, the children held their annual sports day. Competition was tight, but the Blue House were the eventual winners.
Cross Country Event at Queen Mary's School, Thirsk
Children from Years 1, 2 and 3 took part in a cross country competition organised by Queen Mary's School. The children had a tremendous time and did very well, much to the delight of the supporting parents. All the medal winners are shown below.
