Music Fundraiser
Well done to Mr Nelson’s music students in the Pre-Prep, many of whom took part in a sponsored practice to raise money for Sargent Cancer Care for Children.
Restaurant Head Chef Teaches Children French Cookery
13 children aged 6 and 7 yrs from class 2 in the Pre-Prep, visited the Blue Lion in East Witton for a French cookery demonstration by new head chef, Michael, kindly hosted by owner, Paul Klein.
Fun in the Snow
Only a small amount of snow fell on the School last weekend but this did not deter the boys from taking advantage of the wintery weather!

The Head Chef at Aysgarth delighted the children at lunch with a menu based on celebrity chef James Martin's recipes.

Clothes Donated for Orphans
Aysgarth School has donated sports clothing to The Mumvuri Trust in Zimbabwe.

Helping Local Day Centre for the Elderly
It has just been announced by the School's Charity Committee that the boys in the Prep School raised over £750 following three carol concerts at the end of last term.

The Aysgarth School Choirs gave a truly moving performance at the Christmas concert in front of a 700 strong audience at Ripon Cathedral.
Aysgarth's 1st XV Unbeaten
The sport department is on a roll as this year's 1st XV is the third team in five years to remain unbeaten since the School introduced rugby as a sport in 1910.
Parisian Pen Pals
Head of French, Madame Pearson has set up a pen pal system for the boys with a school in Montreuil, near Paris.
Musical Talent
Prep pupil Hugh Hollins recently played in The National Childrens’ Orchestra. Performing at Wellington College, he played some extremely challenging music including:

Aysgarth Boys Selected for Barbarians
Bevan Fawcett, Ethan Madronal and Oliver Rudd have been selected for the North of England Prep School Barbarians squad to play all the other regions at Rugby school in February.
The 1st XV remain unbeaten. This latest news is a reflection on the team and the hard work of each individual.

Pupils Win Prizes

Invitation to Chatsworth
22 boys, local parents and prospective parents and staff were kindly invited to Chatsworth by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire on Saturday. The experience was truly unforgettable.
Scholarships - 100% Success
Every boy who attempted a scholarship, won an award. Awards include all-rounder, sports, music scholarships and a Headmaster's exhibition.
Pirate Ship Launched...in Bedale?
The Pre-Prep held a grand ‘launch’ party on 26th May to officially open their refurbished playground which includes a pirate ship. The pirate ship launch was combined with their Open Day so that staff and pupils could celebrate their new playground with as many people as possible and local parents could find out more about the School.
A pirate 'Captain Aysgarth' took charge of the ship and there was pirate-themed face painting, craft activities and a puppet show. The refurbished playground was kindly donated by the Parents’ Association and the ground re-surfacing funded by the Aysgarth School Foundation.
'Shiver Me Timbers'
The senior boys in the Prep School performed 'Treasure Island’- a swashbuckling adventure, full of action, murder, treachery and humour.
Support for Injured Soldier
An astonishing new figure of £9,100 has been reached, since pupils and staff have been fundraising for the son of matron Michelle Jameson, including sponsorship for the 9th Aysgarthian Run.
Red Nose Day
Boys and girls in the Pre-Prep raised money for Comic Relief by paying to wear red clothes instead of their uniform and raffled off gingerbread houses that they had learnt to decorate themselves.
Aysgarthian Senior Race Won in Record Time
The 9th Aysgarthian Run took place on Sunday 6th March. Supported by 150 participants including parents, siblings and their dogs, we are thrilled to announce that George Holder, 11yrs won the senior race in a new record time and George West, 11 yrs won the Junior race. Also just over a staggering £7,000 in sponsorship money was raised to help the son of Michelle Jameson, matron at the School. Thank you to everyone for their generosity.
Headmaster's Exhibition
Congratulations to Jonathan Vincent on winning a Headmaster’s Exhibition (All-rounder award) to Repton.
100% Success Rate in Musical Exams
30 boys entered for various music exams in January and all of them passed. Amongst the passes there were 15 merits and 6 distinctions.
Selected for the Barbarians
Archie Erskine has been selected for the England Prep School Barbarians.

When Mrs Goddard met with a rather nasty accident boys and staff turned detective. Mr Barlow apprehended the 'guilty party'.
Congratulations to Old Aysgarthian
Edward Nainby-Luxmoore, who left Aysgarth in July 2006, has just won the OCS Young Sports Person of the Year for his rowing.

Elections to the School Council
The elections were held for the School Council this week. The School Council makes suggestions to improve the school as well as tasting new foods!

Aysgarth Pupils Sing on Album
Internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer Eduardo Niebla invited pupils from Aysgarth and Queen Mary's choirs to sing on his new album.
Bring and Buy Sale Raises Money for Charity
Nearly £500 was raised on Sports Day to be shared between Dales Care and the African charity Heart to Heart.
Common Entrance Success
The boys achieved 100% success rate in Common Entrance. This follows the news that three boys were awarded scholarships.
100% Record on Cricket Tour
The 1st XI played some outstanding cricket to record three victories against some of the best schools in the South. Victories were recorded against the Dragon, Prior Park and St John's Beaumont.

Who Won the Aysgarth Election?
David Faber, the grandson of former Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, inspired 20 boys to run as candidates for Aysgarth's very own mini-election.
A Taste of Paris
11 boys tasted life in Paris for 5 days. The trip gave them the opportunity to practise their French and soak up the Parisian culture.
Adventure Survival Course
The whole of Form 1 have just returned from Scotland where they spent three days on an adventure survival course.
Eighth Aysgarthian Run
Over 140 boys, parents and dogs (and one ferret!) competed in the Eighth Aysgarthian Run.
Aysgarth Receives Top Marks in Inspection
ISI graded the Nursery and Reception classes 'Outstanding' for all four categories and gave Yr 1 Pre-Prep to Yr 8 in the Prep, the highest grade of 'Excellent' for two out of three categories.

Drawing Competition
At the North Yorkshire Show, Aysgarth School and Queen Mary’s School, joined forces to promote the benefits of single sex education. At their stand, children could enter their ‘boys and girls’ drawing competition. Congratulations to winners William Barker, aged 5 and Archie Turner, aged 6.
