The Aysgarth School Foundation | What is the Aysgarth School Foundation?
The Aysgarth School Foundation is committed to widening access to the School and supporting its development as one of the country’s leading preparatory schools. The Foundation has been set up to raise funds for bursaries, enabling families, regardless of circumstances to give their child an Aysgarth education and to offer all pupils the distinctive Aysgarth life. The Foundation plays a vital role in securing the School’s future through funding development projects.
Why launch the Foundation?
The School has benefited from the philanthropy of previous generations throughout its history. In its recent past, it has been able to fund investments in the School of over £1 million through prudent management. However, the step change projects needed to keep it at the forefront of prep school education whilst widening access to this excellence necessitates an appeal to the generosity of the current generation.
Aysgarth School
Aysgarth School was founded in 1877 and prepares boys to go on to leading public schools all over the country. The Prep School, for boys aged 8 – 13 yrs is boarding focused. Outstanding early years education for children is provided in the Pre-Prep and Nursery. Aysgarth is home to a close and thriving community of children and staff. This intimacy combined with the breadth and excellence of the opportunities provided is what makes Aysgarth distinctive; and from this emerges an ethos that encourages actions as well as words, team spirit as well as individualism. In the north, the School has an unmatched record of sending boys to Eton, Harrow, Radley, Shrewsbury, Stowe, Uppingham and Winchester, as well as Ampleforth and Sedbergh nearer to home.
