Pirates invade Aysgarth School
The topic of Oceans and Seas, studied by the Pre-Prep Year 2 class became something of an adventure last Friday when they held a ‘Pirate Day’.
Teacher, Emma Barlow, invited all of the seven and eight year olds to dress as pirates for the day.
The lessons were on a pirate theme and included baking ship’s biscuits and solving maths problems using tankards and bottles of ‘Blackbeard’s Grog’.
Pirate day finished with a treasure hunt around the grounds of Aysgarth School in order to find a hoard of chocolate ‘doubloons’. The treasure hunt finished at an appropriate point – the real ship’s cannon displayed at the school.
